Red Tape/Tax Return

From The Dreaming

I always forget what I actually have to do to complete a (personal) tax return (or, more accurately, to endorse the accountant's completion of a tax return).

Recorded here, then, so I have somewhere to look next time.

Contents

When the accountants put together the content of the tax return, they send me:

  • A copy of the tax return form sent to HMRC; cover sheet has space for signing
  • Two copies of a tax return engagement letter, with space for signing
  • A copy of the 'Standard Terms of Business' (i.e. T&C)
  • Cover letter
  • Invoice

Actions

  • Sign and date one of the engagement letters
  • Sign and date the cover page of the tax return form
  • Pay the invoice (note - this is not a company cost, so pay from personal account)
  • Send the signed/dated documents back to the accountant.
