Devil Starsong
  • Zent guy in the Yawning Portal:
  • He's against the faction of Zents which are "trying to drag us back in time"
  • Gave us the quest to find who was killing elves in the docks
Martem Trek
  • Small boy, huddling, crying after the fireball attack
  • found remains of necklace - the necklace of fireballs used by the nimblethingy
  • We hired him - can't remember what we hired him to do now... keep an 'eye' on people, perhaps? Try and get people into the pub? Whatever, it made his day.
Nim
  • Automaton based in the House of Inspired Hands - the temple of, er, some god or other
  • Created some not great creations - a homicidal hummingbird and...
  • Another nimblething, which appears to be some kind of robot-for-hire - a sociopathic mercenary
Renaer Neverender

  • The party (minus me) saved his life earlier in the campaign.
Dalakhar
  • Gnome, hired by Lord Neverender (Sr) to spy on his son, Renaer
  • Trusted by Neverender Sr
  • Given special mission to retrieve the Stone Of Golorr (from whom?)
  • Afraid of the Zentarim / Xanathar guild
  • He as coming to us to hire us to take the stone to Neverender Sr when the fireball attack killed him
Cult of Manshoom
  • A breakaway cult from the Zentarim
  • Starsong reckons they are trying to drag the Zents "back in time"
  • No clear understanding of their motivations at this point
Stone of Galorr
  • Allegedly, an ancient creature, transformed into an artifact
  • "Knows the location of treasure consisting of half a million dragons"
  • Seems unlikely that this treasure will still be there, if the creature did know its location
  • More likely a big bad, realistically
The Gralhunds
  • Local nobles, involved with the Zents
  • Hired / worked with the cult of Manshoom to retrieve the Stone of Galoor
  • Lady Gralhund hired Nim's nimblewotsit to use a fireball to kill Dalakhar and retrieve the stone
  • Lord Gralhund is a week-kneed ninnyhammer
Urstall
  • The Zent who the Gralhunds were dealing with
  • A bit tetchy about having his colleagues blown up. Decided to enter into a heated discussion with Lord Gralhund.

Dalakhar, the gnome, was spying on him for Neverender Sr.
Sr. trusts that gnome.
Special Mission to retrieve the Stone of Golorr, afraid the Zentarim / Xanathar guild.
He was going to visit us to take the Stone of Golorr to his father.

Saw lady gralhund the other day - surprisingly quiet otherwise.
Earlier this afternoon, terrible thumping at the door - allowed somebody in, limping, not the sort to be allowed in the front door.

  • Meeting people - could do that _while_ doing a search

Day notes: 27/07/2020

  • Carl searches North Ward:
    • Sees number of houses raided by City Watch
    • Presumably Zents or Zent-related homes
    • No nimblewrights found
  • Rich used a raven to search Sea Ward
    • One of its mates has seen 'unnatural walking metal' beyond the first great wall
    • i.e. the 'Field Ward'

Note: we get 500gp from destroying the nimblewright from the House Of Inspired Hands (temple that made it)

  • Nimblewright found in Field Ward.
  • Rich melted it
  • On its, er, 'person', there was:
    • a parchment with "small nondescript map", looks like a warren - don't recognise it from initial scan
    • It's a treasure map - there's an 'X' over a building - next to the 'X' is written the name: Threakkus

Two city guard peer in through the hole. We sent them to the pub. Must find out what that's called. Troll something Manor.


Next day, we took the nimblewright's head to the House of Inspired Hands, and took our 500gp reward. And one of:

  • modifiable stilts
  • a parachute
  • metal cube - wind it for 8 hours activity - makes a convincing barking sound - detects vibrations, makes a guard dog sound. It will detect a normal footstep at a range of 15ft.
  • matchless pipe for smoking pipeweed.

We took the cube because duh. It's in my equipment cos I had the space. We split up our winnings, taking an extra 120gp

  • Doesn't know it, but it looks like a slum. Field Ward, perhaps?

Carl

Chatted to a city guide - they didn't know, but they don't go into the Field Ward. The dung sweepers don't go there either, so that was a bust.

15:00 Turn up at the pub; Ekah is here too.

  • Guess the Field Ward - probably not the Docks, because I know them.
  • Name does ring a bell
    • Thrakkus is a butcher with premises in the Field Ward.
  • Chop Street -> Shanty Lane

17:00 Tim leaves. As he's leaving, he shivers, and there's a cold blast. "First snows of winter's arrived", and it's dark outside now. Seems sensible to buy some warmer clothes. So I did.

Thrakkus The Butcher

  • Old windmill
  • Thrakkus allows squatters at night - locals with nowhere else to go, peasant families, drunks, etc.
  • They're allowed on the ground floor, except in the butchery which is locked with a high quality padlock
  • Thrakkus has 'special deliveries'.
    • They appear to be Xanathar bodies for disposal. He bakes them.
  • There are more bodies in the cold storage, as yet unchopped

Day notes: 09/11/2020

  • We talked Thrakkus down.
  • Then we killed him even downer.
  • Found the books; our pub was in it, with "Justin"s name against it.
  • According to the tenants, shipment went out today; Thrakkus took it himself.
  • Gone for a few hours, so he could have gone quite a long distance.
  • As far as they know, all his business is in the city.

Day notes: 24/11/2020

  • Angry chanting - a mob in a circle - "String 'im up! String 'im up!"
  • "Unlicensed Scotch Eggs!" "halfling scum" "Roll him in the butter"
  • 3 butchers + a lot of mob
  • "Rask", an entry in the butcher's ledgers, is in the Field Ward (i.e. near us)
  • Going to his gaff, there's an empty blood-splattered card attached to a horse
  • Justin!
  • After a bit of intimidation, he revealed the address of the last delivery
  • Cuttles Meat Pies - Trade Ward
  • Went there; set upon by 5 'creatures'. Who hit bloody hard.
  • Part way through a battle - Fitz and Eyrenoth are down, but not yet out
  • Norman and Sardyl took refuge in the shop
  • Ekha is just outside the shop door
  • The creatures are searching (vainly right now) for us

We killed two of them; the other two scarpered, and we barely survived.

Day notes: 01/02/2021

  • Next door room, a tied up dwarf with a beholder tattoo (Xenithar)
  • Captured down at the docks; the brotherhood left him here for days ("Zhentarim scum!")
  • Two Zhents escaped up the chimney:
    • a woman (the clever one - a 'Luscan' - swarthy skin);
    • and her heavy, he grabbed the dwarf ('Tirani' - dark skinned)
  • "I don't know nothing about any stones; I was just buying fish at the docks"
  • Field ward, docks, base, docks again.
  • Going to field ward to take messages to agents:
    • "something going on up there"
    • "bosses have been after something"
  • Dwarf marks a drain entrance south of the building,
  • and draws a rough guide to a 'meeting place'
  • His name is 'Ott Steeltoes'

On searching the room, there is a consignment sent to Brisombrights Theatre. So to the theatre we go...

  • Brisombright is a ghost introducing people into the building.
  • We harass the pie seller to take us to the kitchen...
  • ...which is in disarray; Eyrenoth can tell the pies there contain human flesh - they've all been damaged by our quarries who've scarpered
  • door on the east side of the north corridor, actors spilling out
  • "They grabbed something and ran away"

  • Fitz and I chased the woman - Fitz sent her to sleep
  • The rest chased down the dude; he got a cab and they jumped in another one and said "Follow that cab"

Day notes: 01/03/2021

  • Lavette Blackwater - Zhentarim spy
  • As introduced by Remallia Haventree; an upper class Harper elf
  • Her compatriot is Agorn, a mid-ranking bard;
    • He spends dockside neighbourhood of Mistshore (very rough)
  • She takes Blackwater off in their care

  • The other guys tracked Agorn to Mistshore, where we met up with them

  • On meeting up, we tracked the cab, found Agorn trying to smother his mother
  • We're off to meet Amath, to whom he gave "a stone"
  • And.... we're attacked
  • And my rolling throughout the day was abysmal, so I ended up sat on my arse, bleeding out
  • They picked up their guy and took off; Norman & Ekah managed to kill one of them, and Fitz healed me
  • We're on our way back to the pub to recover; my current status: 5hp + 1 level of exhaustion;
  • Finding "Amath Sercent"

Day notes: 22/03/2021

  • We have the approximate area of town
  • "Strange one", lives over in the Yellow Spire - tower with scaffolding made with yellow stone
  • Found a female priest + 4 acolytes + a bound and gagged commoner
  • Initiative
    • Fitz: 24
    • Sardyl: 21
    • Will: 15
    • Rich: 15
    • Ekah: 14
  • Wrapped up after first turn; 2 acolytes were toast; priest was hit for a good 15 damage and all but 3 enemies are lit up giving us advantage on attack rolls - nice.

  • Restarted...
  • We beat them, searched the priest found a key and freed the dude:
  • Shan Chain - proprietor and publisher of Waterdeep Daily News (The Taj)
    • "They were trying to 'turn' me to worship their wicked God, Bane."
  • Dude came up the stairs, "It is your master, blahblah": the next battle is about to begin.
